Hi, I have fire fingers but they go out within an avarage of 2.5 minutes and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on fuel as far as longer burning time. I use White gas now and have tried lamp oil and Grain alcohol but so far white gas seems to burn the longest, which I think the longest burn I have had was 3 minutes, ugh.... it's frustrating. Outside of adding more Kevlar is there any other suggestions?

Re: Longest burning fuel?
Fri, April 1, 2005 - 10:12 AMadding kevlar without increasing the surface area will definatly increase your burn time. The longest fuel I have ever used was biodiesel with a very small amount of white gass to get it going. It drips a lot more and take a while to get going and smells like mcdonalds but it burns for a LOT longer.
let me know how that works for your, I have some if you'd like to try it =]

Re: Longest burning fuel?
Tue, May 3, 2005 - 6:33 PMyou need to add a more viscous solvent to your mix, propylene glycol works great as an additive. it burns forever by itself, but produces a weak bluish flame like alcohol does. i am in san diego and can get fuel additives (and metallic salts for colored flame) in bulk through our chemical manufacturing company. how long a burn are you looking for? more than 3 minutes is a long time for a solo.

Re: Longest burning fuel?
Fri, June 24, 2005 - 11:04 PMI've got a friend who's been experimenting with making wicks out of welder's felt. It's more dense than Kevlar, and seems to be burning longer for poi. Sadly, it is a little messier in the wrapping-things-up-in-a-neat-little-package department. Might be worth a try though. -
